General Questions
How Should I Store My Greens?
We recommend keeping your greens in in their original containers/bags until ready to use (or transferring to a similar bag if you have an alternative preference). They can be kept in a refrigerator, preferably lightly sealed/wrapped, for a substantial amount of time, as we harvest as close as possible to sale.
Additionally, for longer-term storage, you can wrap a damp paper towel around the root mass when possible (we try and keep the root mass intact on many of our greens, whenever possible)
If you are storing our mixed green bags, we suggest not opening them until ready to use. Similarly, do not wash/rinse any greens until ready for use; this will rapidly degrade the longevity of the product.
Do I Need to Wash My Greens Prior to Consumption?
Yes. According to the state of Colorado, all of our products (with the exception of our freeze-dried greens powder), are considered “raw agricultural products.” Thus, they are not classified as “ready to eat” processed foods. That said, we have high confidence in our quality and cleanliness standards (see below for additional information with regards to “organics.”
Are Your Greens Organic?
Officially, no. That is, we are not USDA certified organic, and thus we are not legally allowed to use the term in any of our advertising, as per Ceaser’s laws.
Unfortunately, there are many ongoing legal disputes between large industry groups (e.g., hydroponic and soil-based farming entities) as to whether or not hydroponically produced produce should even be allowed to be considered “organic.” We hope to write a longer-form assessment from our view on this topic in the future. However, in the mean time, we enjoy our symbiotic relationship with our other local farmer friends.
Our opinion boils down to a few simple principles:
- Know your farmer (many of our customers have seen our operation, and know we grow clean).
- “Organic” standards constantly shift, and often times “organic” products/methods are not as “organic” as one might expect.
- We don’t care about applying a label from a federal organization to demonstrate the quality of the greens we grow at our very small, local business. Our customers know our quality.
- In our opinion, our greens are superior to most large Organic farm products. We estimate that our environmental impacts and use of pesticides/herbicides/etc., are far less (or nonexistent) than most Organic certified large-scale operations.

- Why can I not click on the “plus” symbol to view and/or not view your drop down menus?
- Answer: Because WordPress has default/required/etc. add-ons with thousands of lines of back-end code for simple things like drop down menus, such as “plus sign button click” functions. Regrettably they are often terrible, or extremely over-complex, and thus prone to breakage (hence a recent auto-update broke this “add-on”). We are working on it.
